Samsung HT-Z410T 5.1-Channel 5 Disc Home Theater Surround Sound System (Set of Seven, Black) The Samsung HT-Z410 offers auto calibration in order to ensure that consumers will have the best possible surround sound regardless of where they place their speakers. Customer Review: awesome for the price Well what can I say, 5 disc changer, 1000 watts, fm stereo(only), but most importantly to me is that the upscaling is so good at first I thought the picture was better than my hd cable service providers. At the price bluray home theatre’s go for, this was such a good steal. I can pop a $3 dvd in my system and I can honestly say get full 1080p. Is that awesome or what! I would highly recommend this or the samsung ht-z510t which slightly has more watts(200 more), and speaking of loudness this system makes my body vibrate, hows that for loudness? It’s a steal buy! Customer Review: Great Home Theater but poor Instructions I am very happy with this product, but the instructions are poor. This unit has some very interesting features. The three I like the best are the ability to play DivX disks, a USB 2.0 port that will let you play either music, pictures, or movies (without any disk), and HDMI upscaling. I would give this unit 5 stars if the instructions were better. By the way, it has a multitude of IPOD adapters to allow your IPOD to directly interface. I don’t have an IPOD.

Harman Kardon AVR-154 5×30W 5.1-Channel Home Theater Receiver The Harman Kardon AVR 154 is all about getting connected. It features three HDMI inputs, two wide-bandwidth HDTV-ready component video inputs, four S-video inputs, a front-panel input for video games, an auxiliary input for portable media players, and a portfolio of advanced surround processing technologies, including Dolby Digital, DTS and Logic 7 processing. But the AVR 154 is also about ease of use, and it features a high-current, ultrawide-bandwidth design for maximum fidelity. Customer Review: Best inexpensive HDMI equipped “non-japanese” quality receiver! I consider myself an “audiophile” by all rights with my downstairs system costing in the $30-$40,000 price range (although price doesn’t necessarily equate to quality but my separate components are amazing and were hand picked over years of trial & error). This receiver though is for my daily upstairs system where the family watches tv and occasionally a movie together during the day or early evening and we do like the sound to be good through our 5.1 “upstairs” system too. When we want to get “serious” about music or movies however we go downstairs! That’s why I was all the more shocked by this relatively inexpensive receiver looking and sounding so good! And even more surprised that I could buy it brand new through Amazon for the same or less cost than similar used or refurb’d systems elsewhere (Ebay, etc). There are lesser priced receivers out there but they are definatly lesser quality too and/or don’t have or switch HDMI w/1080p! I don’t particularly like the big Japanese firms receivers with all of their rediculous bells and whistles (like who really flips through 20-30 different sound fields anyway like hall, disco, reverb, ambiance, and whatever else kind of fluff they offer) give me a good upmix of two channels to my five or seven (natural sounding not overly synthesized or mechanical) along with the usual great Dolby Digital and DTS and I’m good (and of course a good six channel analog pass through if using an SACD OR HD DVD source)! And the fact that everyone who goes to Best Buy or Circuit City or Walmart gets “sold” on them there. I almost overlooked the HK AVR’s after seeing them in Costco stores (but I’ve purchased several big screen plasma/LCD’s from them and their all great) but I’m glad I took a closer look! Harmon Kardon has hit the mark perfectly with this receiver the AVR 154. It’s an elegant looking receiver which has a high WAF (Wife Acceptance Factor) with a very simple uncluttered front face that looks good on or off (unlike the Japanese receivers which seem to have a race to see who can cram more knobs & buttons onto less real estate the quickest). The rated 30 Watts x 5 channels (which is a very real power designation and you should note the low distortion which is across the whole frequency range of 5Hz-30KHz where many Japanese models will offer their rating only at one frequency like 1KHz or only with the two front channels driven) are plenty for almost any sub & sat combination however if I were using it for full range speakers I might want to look at the next model up which offers 50W x 7 channels (although it might be worth trying the less expensive model first). I replaced an older model Sony ES (Elevated Standard) receiver CD/DVD/SACD player all in one unit (which was rated 110 watts per channel) with the AVR 154 and I could not hear any difference in power to HK’s 30 watts per channel! Wow! My only gripe is that it does not upscale digital video (or on screen display/GUI; this requires a complete separate video connection) such as 480p or 720p to 1080p HDMI although it does a great job of switching or passing the native signals through. For upscaling I need to go up to the next level receiver the AVR 254. Other than this little nuisance it is a very good receiver for not a lot of cash. I would highly recommend this receiver to anyone who wants a world class receiver on a very limited budget. Great sound, great looks, easy to operate (once set up because the quick start guide and manual are a little confusing)! Highly recommended… I may try out their higher end AVR 254 and if so I will offer my opinion for you on it too. Customer Review: Style. Performance. Value. Harman Kardon offers a no-nonsense approach to style, design and audio expression. I purchased the AVR 154 to complement my audio/video system, which includes: a 1080p, 46″ Samsung LCD; Sony PS3, 1080i digital cable box, Dell notebook, and Polk Audio RM6750 5.1 satellite/sub system. My a/v system is set-up in an apartment living room (14′ by 16′) with vaulted ceilings and the floor is carpeted. My favorite sofa chair is set-up just off-center about 11′ from the center speaker and TV, but the receiver has ample features to help me achieve a sweet spot, set crossover points, and control my cable box without moving from my comfy chair.

Customer Review: Great Speakers Great speakers, great price. Only drawback is they’re not great for wall mounting. The front speakers are not designed to be mounted. The side and rear have a “keyhole” mount. My side speakers are up high so it would be nice if they were pointable or if they had a better mount that I could point downwards. But even up a bit too high the system sounds great. Customer Review: Of course my horse… So I paired these speakers with the Onkyo TX-SR606 receiver and it’s pretty much the sweet bomb diggity. I got a PS3 and a Hitachi 52″ Plasma, and DirecTv HD, and these speakers just complete the whole package. It took me about 3-4 hours to properly run all the wiring and I am dreading taking it all out when I move but, it’s definitely worth it. I bought better speaker wire as the speaker wire is pretty thin. (Think dental floss.) Anyways I originally ran the speakers with the supplied wires and now I think I have like 12 or 14 gauge. I honestly cannot tell a difference. If I had to do it again I would have saved the 60 some dollars I spent on speaker wire and used it towards something else. Blu-rays maybe. I did have quite a time mounting the surround speakers as they are pretty hefty and they are designed to hang flat against the wall. Flat against the wall doesn’t work in my house as the living room is oddly shaped. I bought some speaker mounts from best buy and I had to rig some makeshift brackets as I was worried the speakers wouldn’t stay on the mounts. (You can’t see them though so it’s cool.) If you have a perfectly square room or something similar don’t worry. The mounts on the surround sound speakers look like something you would hang a picture or painting with. Long story short… These are the speakers you want, they rock. Do whatever you have to to get these: rob, steal, kill, sell your 1st born, it’ll be worth it.

Denon AVR-1909 7.1-Channel Multizone Home Theater Receiver 90 watts x 7 into 8 ohms (20-20,000 Hz) at 0.08% THD * Dolby TrueHD, DTS-HD Master Audio, Dolby Digital Plus, DTS-HD High Resolution Audio, Dolby Digital EX, DTS-ES, Pro Logic IIx, and DTS Neo:6 decoding * Audyssey Laboratories’ MultEQ six-point auto setup and room calibration system (microphone included) * XM Satellite Radio Ready (requires XM subscription and optional XM Mini-Tuner package) * SIRIUS satellite radio capable (requires SIRIUS subscription and optional SiriusConnect home tuner kit) * iPod integration (requires optional Denon ASD-11R or ASD-3N) * on-screen display for easier system setup and operation * multibrand remote * Customer Review: less hassle to set up than i was told. This product is far and away the best A/V receiver I looked into or have ever owned. I did research for months before I bought. It all proved fruitless as the receiver i first wanted to buy was also the best reciever. I looked at onyx and yamaha, all the other major competitors fell short in sound quality. Other reviews I read said that the remote control and the set up both take a long time to get used to and are hard to set up. I am tech savvy and i will grant that the instruction manual could have been been improved by being more concise and clear. But once I took the time to read it and get used to it. I found it rather intuitive and once it is set up it is very easy to switch setting that optimize music or movie quality. The music is crisp and clear with very bright sounds and deep controlled bass notes. I paired the system with the KEF 3005 se speaker system and have never been happier. Music is a joy to listen to with every note and a breath heard from every instrument in every genre. I am hearing notes that i have never heard before from my music. The only thing that is better than listening to music is watching a movie. I put in a DTS Bourne movie and was amazed that every detail was perfect and every aspect of watching perfect. I never thought a sounds could be as clear as my BLU-ray discs but i found that the denon makes the sound as clear as my plasma tv. Don’t be worried about the set up. the built in audio EQ function is a perfect tool to get the most out of this system. It may not look like much but it has it where it counts, and it has it in spades. Stop looking and get this one. Customer Review: Denon AVR-1909 - simply wonderful. I had an older model Denon (around 10 years old or so) that didn’t support HDMI so I studied up on just about every brand in the $300-$700 range. They all had their ups and downs, but really it seemed to come down to “you get what you pay for”. The Denon AVR 1909 had everything I wanted.

For under $300.00, these speakers are fabulous and rival similar sets that cost more. I have Polk RM5000 speakers in my home and purchased these for a gallery in my office (photography studio). The sound is superb, and aside from small details, they work great! I mounted these on the walls using the hanging slots on the back of them. I thought they were too big to use mounting brackets. The overall sound is more than acceptable using Star Wars Episode 3 as my test. The higher tones are not a crisp and I’m used to, but nonetheless, I am quite pleased with this purchase. I am also using an Yamaha surround sound receiver with the sound input coming from the optical TOSlink from my computer. The only CON/GRIPE that I have is that the speaker wires that came with it were thin, probably an 18-gauge and they were not very long. I prefer using a 12/14-gauge wire, especially in longer lengths. Aside from that, I would recommend this produce to anyone who is interested in having an affordable set of surround speakers that sound great! Customer Review: Great set of speakers I bought these speakers over this last weekend and hooked them up to Sony 720 Receiver. This is a great entry level system. The bass is very deep and impactful yet dont completely drowned out the highs. It took me awhile to find the right combination of both highs and bass but once I got it down it sounds great. I have this all hooked up to my PS3 and Twister in 5.1 True HD was mind blowing! GREAT BUY!

Yamaha RX-V3800BL 7.1-Channel Network Home Theater Receiver (Black) The RX-V3800 is a high-end Home Theater Receiver introducing new technologies and features including 3D CINEMA DSP, latest HDMI 1.3a specification support, upscaling to 1080p, full support for high definition audio formats signals, Adaptive DRC and Adaptive DSP Level, YPAO Auto Setup with Quick Start, and multi-zone custom installation support and Network Receiver functions. Customer Review: Yamaha RX-V3800 Review I purchased the 3800 about a month ago from 6 ave Electronics through Amazon. I upgraded from a Sony STR-DE 897. I have to say it was a significant upgrade. I was skeptical of how much better a more expensive receiver would make, but it really did. The sound clarity from each channel is significantly better. I run Polk RTi A5 fronts, RTi A 6 Center, and RM surrounds. I have read reviews stating setup is difficult. I disagree. It was very easy. I especially like the auto speaker calibration with the supplied Mic. The one thing I would suggest is the Pure Direct option for watching movies. The sound quality is significantly better than any of the Recievers Choices. Overall I feel this is a great receiver for the price. Customer Review: Great replacement receiver Replacement in the sense that we had hurricane style rains for weeks straight and my roof leaked directly above my home theater equipment - of course!
