I’ve been enjoying my ButtKicker for five months now. The build quality impressed me and the instructions for installation are easy to follow. I’ve used it with Blu-ray discs/DVDs, an Xbox, and a Wii. To say that it adds another dimension to one’s home theater is an understatement. As a gamer, I was blown away. The vibrations are proportionate to what is happening in the game. For example, while playing a WWII shooter, grenades resonate more strongly than bullets, etc. Also, being able to in essence, feel the proximity of an enemy adds an amazing degree of realism. Surprisingly, games on the Wii in Pro Logic II were just as impressive as Xbox games in digital 5.1. Using the ButtKicker with movies feels like being at an IMAX. I was concerned I might be disturbing neighbors when I watched The Dark Knight for the first time using the ButtKicker as it was so intense. My neighbors in the apartments below me and those next door said they heard nothing. I haven’t spent a great deal of time using the ButtKicker with music but as was the case with movies and games, it delivers. That said, there are a couple things to consider before purchasing. As stated on their website, the BKA300 can’t be expanded. So know going in that this will work with only one couch or chair. Also, while there is a remote, there are no level displays on the unit’s receiver or remote itself. This was initially frustrating as I like different levels of intensity depending on the audio source. However, any smart remote can be used to control the ButtKicker which overcomes this issue. As an audiophile trapped in the budgetary constraints of being a full-time graduate student, the ButtKicker was the perfect purchase. It provides me the bone rattling experience of a dedicated home theater system before practicality allows me to have one. Any home theater enthusiast that lives in an apartment, dorm, or who uses their living room as their theater room should take a serious look at this product.

Bought one through Amazon on 3-26-09. Although I’ve been involved in audio/video non-professionally for several decades (do have an associate electronics degree), this Buttkicker thing was new to me. Didn’t know what to expect but after hooking it up I was impressed.

Customer Review: Okay but could be a little better
I bought this item with the idea of using it for presentations. I don’t mind that I have to create slides as jpeg files instead of just creating a PowerPoint. What I do mind is that so far I can’t figure out if there is a way to turn off the automatic slide show where it won’t auto advance the slides.

The speaker stands are very nice, compact and match the two I already have. I like them alot. However, the order through Amazon was placed with other items to receive free shipping. The order for the stands was cancelled rather than delayed. Then when I reordered I got to pay full shipping charges. The only disappointment was with how the shipping was dealt with.

Thumbs up on the Audio Section. The Audissey Setup is Simple and the Dynamic EQ is very Effective for listening well below reference level, which is most of the Time for normal use.
(It runs HOT, but with an open rack it is not an issue).

Thumbs down on the Video Section- HDMI will not pass Black below Black & White above white ( Checked with DVE pluge & reverse gray ramps). The dynamic range of some material is effectively clipped.
Unfortunately there is no way to get around this issue by connecting the Blue Ray 7.1 Analog OUT to the multichannel inputs of the Receiver and running an HDMI cable directly from the Player to the HDTV without losing all the Audissey capabilities, including Dynamic EQ.

Customer Review: Bluetooth not “hardy enough”?
I have had this unit for about a month. It worked fine for a couple of weeks, then it developed a high pitched “whistle”, almost a ringing distortion, which I have to assume is some form of interference in the bluetooth reception.

The surround sound is great for the price. The system only has the dvd surround sound, there are no other inputs for sound to be directed to the surround sound. DVD player ONLY! The wires for the front right and left speaker are a tad short. This would make a good surround sound a starter.
